Day of the Dead – Creative Project Photography
As many of you know I LOVE doing creative projects. The more out of the box, the better! Before I left Florida, I did a Day of the Dead shoot with the always amazing Jo’Ah May of Jo’Ah Artistry. We typically go to our facebook fans to find volunteers for these projects. We did that with this particular project and Dave, Jeremy, Sarah, Natalie and Samantha all volunteered. We shot in Old Fort Park in Fort Pierce. It was so much fun because I got to play around with some flash gels on my light source, just to give the images something different. It was totally out of my comfort zone, but I was VERY pleased with the images that we captured. Here are some of my favorite images from this shoot. I even played around with some image textures which is something I very seldom do. I just felt like some of the images could use something different since this was a project that was out of the norm. Thanks again to EVERYONE who helped collaborate on this project. It really was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
This is the series that we did with Dave! He totally pulled off this character!Playing with a purple flash gel, just for the fun of it. LOLDave brought this bad ass old school pocket watch – it totally went with his character. Playing with textures on this series of images.Of everyone, I think Natalie really scared me the most. She got SOOOOO into her part that the way she was wielding the knife & looking at me; I could have sworn she was about to stick me! I also played with a little bit of red flash gel in a couple of these images, as well as some “light leaks” and textures too. I loved editing these to enhance the amazing makeup skills of Jo’Ah! 😉Sarah totally rocked out her Day of the Dead character. I loved the touches of hot pink too!Jeremy, ah – he was one of my favorite guys of all time to shoot. He was so INTO everything that has a dramatic flair! He was even our Phantom for the Phantom of the Opera Inspired shoot we did. You can see that blog post here: http://blog.dawnvgilmorephoto.com/creative-project-phantom-of-the-opera-port-st-lucie-photography/Samantha was AMAZING to photograph. She volunteered to be a part of the shoot & collaborated with Jo’Ah to use the colors of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. The reason; Samantha is currently in treatment for Ovarian Cancer. She even rocked the bald head for the shoot. She is one bad ass woman & brave as hell! I have never seen a more SEXY Day of the Dead character! We also did some group shots just for the fun of making it look like they were having a “Day of the Dead” party! How cool is this crew? What an amazing shoot it was.A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this project happen. It’s because of all of the wonderfully talented people that are fans of our work that help us make these dream shoots become a reality!
